A Trek to Remember: Assam Zoo's newest Addition is not an Animal but a Route
Nature is one's own heavenly abode, but this concrete jungle is hardly the abode of one's relief. So when the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, introduced a trek route inside the zoo premises - with planned conduction of the same not on weekends, but everyday - the people are surely thrilled.
The 6 kms long trek route is a circular path that takes almost two hours to complete. The trek route features two big lakes and many smaller ones in the area. It should be noted that this is the first trekking route inside the zoo.
The Assam zoo occupies a large area, with the animal exhibit covering only 30 hectares and the remaining 145 hectares is surrounded by trees and hills.
Zoo authorities have mentioned that people are happy to see the scenic landscape and be inside an “urban forest” right in the middle of the city. Notably, the number of participants for the trek has increased threefold.
In the future, the zoo is also planning to introduce rock climbing. A good step, kudos to Government of Assam on innovative usage of space! Tag us for more news @ManuheManuhorbabe1 on Twitter and on Facebook.
