Updated: Nov 23, 2019

On #AirForceDay let's remember the Awards of President’s Standard and Colours bestowed to 118 Helicopter Unit and Air Defence College of Indian Air Force in Guwahati.

The President awarded the prestigious awards to 118 Helicopter Unit and Air Defence College, back in November of 2018 in a ceremonial parade at Guwahati Air Force Station in the presence of Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister of BJP Government in Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal and Chief of the Air Staff  Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, Air Marshal Raghunath Nambiar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Air Command.

The President’s Standard and Colours are the highest honour bestowed on units of the armed forces in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the security of the nation during peace and hostilities.

The 118 helicopter Unit (Challengers) is a Helicopter Unit and is equipped with Mi-8 and based at Guwahati Air Force Station under Eastern Air Command. It was raised at Chabua on November 22, 1971, Air Marshal Nambiar informed.

Selection for award of Presidential Colour in year 2018 is momentous, as it coincides with Diamond Jubilee Yeas of ADC-a befitting acknowledgement of its glorious 60 years service, directly contributing to Air Defence of the country. This is just one of the proud feathers that came unto the State's Forces caps. You can get latest news updates of Assam from Manuhe Manuhor Babe, a famous news website.
