Ambubachi Mela Series: Facilities and Spirituality
The Ambubachi Mela is a big deal when it comes to spirituality exploration and peace seeking. Like mentioned in articles before, on our Ambubachi Mela series, devotees from all over the world, not just the region or the country - from all nooks and corners come in, and offer their prayers and hope to express their heart's deepest desires. The Assam Government, led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has always been ver proactive to help facilitate the people, and create a safe and healthy environment for everyone involved. So in a first: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is set to establish 330 water taps in and around Kamakhya Temple for convenience of devotees who will visit the temple during the upcoming Ambubachi mela.
GMC has been actively engaging itself to ensure water supply, adequate lighting, proper cleanliness of the camps and temple premises, sufficient manpower for cleaning works, etc.
GMC has begun work for setting up pipes to supply water in the temple premises. It has also informed that it will increase the number of garbage carriers in the temple area to ensure the hygiene and cleanliness in the area.
The Ambubachi Mela will start from 22 June and end on 26 June.
To ensure proper cleanliness, 58 workers along with 10 supervisors will be on duty during the mela, said GMC commissioner Debeswar Malakar.
As per reports, Public Health Engineering Department will be providing drinking water in plastic pouches during the event days. In addition, to ensure food safety, officials from the Food Safety department and the Public Health Laboratory has been appointed.
