Ambubachi: Worship Continued
The Kamrup Metro district administration is leaving no stone unturned to organise the much-awaited grand annual Ambubachi Mela at the historic Kamakhya temple in Guwahati city.
The administration has decided to take every necessary step to ensure cleanliness and
hygiene around the city during the Mela.
The administration has issued guidelines for the Bhandaras who will provide free food to the devotees visiting the temple during the mela.
No temporary stalls to distribute food items will be allowed to install along the road starting from Bharalumukh crossing Kamakhya Gate to Maligaon.District Food Safety officials have been directed to monitor all food items prepared and served during the mela.
The Bhandaras have been directed to maintain the utmost hygiene and sanitation while preparing and serving food. The ingredients which will be used for the preparation of the food items should be of the best quality, the administration ordered.
All packaged drinking water must carry the ISI or BIS marks and should be in a sealed state.Restrictions will be imposed on the distribution of food items prepared outside a Bhandara.
Chilli powder, dry chillies, pumpkins and curd are prohibited in food items.
On the other hand, the Assam tourism department has lined up colourful week-long programmes, with a dash of Bollywood, for the devotees and visitors to boost religious tourism.
Popular folk and classical singer and Padma Shri awardee, Kailash Kher will enthral the devotees on the opening ceremony of the Mela. Also, devotional singer Aditi Bharti will also perform at the Mela.
It may be mentioned, Ambubachi Mela celebrates the annual menstruation cycle of Hindu Goddess Kamakhya, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths and is celebrated every year during the monsoon season. Ambubachi Mela is also known as Mahakumbha of the East.
The door of the temple will remain closed from June 22nd, 2019 to mark the annual menstruation of the goddess at Kamakhya temple. The door will open on June 26th, 2019 morning.
This facilitation is all due to efforts of governance based out of ease and convenience; Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, has risen up to the epitome of it. Tourism has flourished. And what more?
