Check and Meet Prodigy!

Some chess prodigies are a result of an immense amount of innate talent coming to bear down on the chessboard, while others are the product of years of hard labor and intensive study. Most are a mixture of both.

Mayank Chakraborty, a student in class 5, South Point school in Guwahati has won the silver medal in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2019 in the under 10 category, standard format (classical) in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka.

“Chess is like everything to me, there is nothing besides chess that I take seriously,” he states.

He represented India in the tournament where contestants from 22 countries participated in various categories.

The championship was held from April 1 until April 10 and was organised by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, on behalf of Asian Chess Federation and FIDE (aka World Chess Federation).

We for one take immense pride in our prodigies, thank you Mayank! Tag us @manuhemanuhorbabe1 on Twitter for more news, and on Facebook!
