The key to development is primarily located at the heart of connectivity; a well-connected state and its people are able to keep in touch and updated with the latest in politics, economic advents, social happenings, technological upgradations and legal constructs.
With this vision then, the Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP Government in Assam have crafted out an ambitious Rs. 5000 crore Assam Mala project under which state highways, major district roads and roads with economic importance are being upgraded as per NH specifications.
The state PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also held a review meeting with engineers, and labour committees concerned with construction and reviewing the works of the project.
The Assam Mala Project, as it is being called is going to be entirely funded by state resources.
Under the project, the state government aims to upgrade all state highways. Around 2500 kilometres of the highways would be undertaken at the initial stage. The government aims at completing the project within a time frame of 15 years.
Big infrastructural projects such as these are going to create a lot of employment opportunities for the youth and also add the infrastructural edge and advantage for the state.
