Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme having central sector component under Ayushman Bharat Mission anchored in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). It is an umbrella of two major health initiatives, namely Health and wellness Centres and National Health Protection Scheme.
So when recently, Guwahati Medical College (GMC) - a legacy on its own, create consistent high-performance results, it was only obvious that they were deserving of recognition and praise!
Their implementation of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY has been so excellent that, in a letter to Principal Cum Chief Superintendent Guwahati Medical College Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Talukdar, Chief Executive Officer of National Health Authority Dr. Indu Bhushan has appreciated Guwahati Medical College (GMC) as the health institution has shown commendable performance in implementation of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) R.K. Talukdar, Principal Cum Chief Superintendent Guwahati Medical College
GMC now becomes a top health care institution in terms of treatments amounting to more than Rs. 10 crores with more than 6000 pre- authorisations.
Most of the treatments have been for tertiary care like orthopaedics neurosurgery, urology and cardiology.
