India's First: Oil Museum in Guwahati Soon
Assam's identity blossoms from the depths of its oil fields as much as it does from its people, its impeccable flora and fauna - because an essential element in the procurement of a strong regional power has been our resources.
And of course it makes sense to create a sphere wherein, we not only discuss it, celebrate it, but also learn the nitty-gritties and specificities that we seem to miss out.
So now when Guwahati, Assam is all set to get the country’s first oil museum (as announced Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan when he visited Guwahati a few weeks ago), the people are more than welcoming!
It's a positive step towards builing a knowlede base that is bound to serve generations to come.
The construction will reportedly cost Rs 104 crores.
For this project, five of the major petroleum and natural gas PSUs including IOCL, HPCL, ONGC, EIL and BPCL will come together.
“The national oil museum will preserve the history of the oil industry in the country and create awareness among the people about the richness of the industry’s heritage,” said Pradhan.
He further said that Assam will become the hub of hydrocarbon trade with Southeast Asian countries. By the looks of it, the northeastern state of Assam is surely and steadily becoming the hub of uber-development.
