‘Joi Aai Axom’ Echoes in Mt. Kilimanjaro!
Overcoming all odds, Chandan Das and Shashi Prakash Roy completed the summit about 4,900 metres (16,100 ft) from its base, and 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level!
The businessmen duo hail from Gauripur in Amingoan North Guwahati. They embarked on their journey in May 2019.
It may be mentioned that Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and has been one of the most popular summits for the hikers across the globe. The mountain is part of Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination.
The mountain has been the subject of many scientific studies because of its shrinking glaciers and disappearing ice fields
“With the blessings of the people of Assam, we have successfully completed the summit. Overcoming the tough weather of -20 degree Celsius and the wild wind, we were happy to flutter the Axomiya Gamusa and chant Joi Aai Axom. All our pains have gone away,” said the duo.
In a moment of pride for the state, they also fluttered the Assamese gamocha at the top of the mountain.
Both Roy and Das are based in Guwahati and are businessmen. They undertook the ardours journey in May. Is not this evidence of hardwork and ardour (we also find this super cool !) ? Tag us @ManuheManuhorbabe1 on Twitter and on Facebook as you share and discuss!
