Making in'roads' to Progress: Goalpara's success story
The Rural Road Division (RRD) of PWD in Goalpara district of Lower Assam has begun the first ever satellite survey of roads in the northeastern region to construct rural roads under the Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase 2.
The PMGSY was propelled in India to provide connectivity to unconnected habitations as part of poverty reduction strategy.
Goalpara district was in the third spot in Assam for a successful completion of rural roads under the PMGSY scheme 2018-19. The district has been accorded priority in undertaking the survey because of this achievement.
As per the information provided by Banajit Adhikari, Nodal Officer, PMGSY, in Goalpara district, a total of 99 roads will be taken up under second phase of PMGSY.
This kind of progress is meant to be pervasive and it has been sought (and achieved) by the current administration led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, under the capable leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been overlooking the efficacy of all nationwide plans.
The PMGSY, and now with the Digital India Initiative is available for online procurement and bidding has made life convenient, and now, surveying rapid. What are your thoughts on it?
